A "biased" religion he said was to blame.
A new land awaiting, a land free from such strife.
Persecution forgotten, ahead generous life.
In a rugged briared country, a confederate gent,
Sired " devil" , folks say, from Hell he was sent.
From a spined mountain ridge, a legend was born.
Heated words, ruthless slaughter,
A mountain man mourned.
"Eye for an eye" ancient laws of the land.
Divided family and friends formed a patriot band.
Intent on justice, a debt to be paid.

Persecution remembered, these very same fears.
Of life long ago in his forefathers years.
None claiming victory for vexed were their souls.
"Hell" appointed to them for these murderous roles.
Old age brought deep silence and time to repent.

Most died in vain for a cause never won.
A hundred years later, the legend lives on.
